I'm known in various communities as Merticus; although some may know me by other identities attributed to research and information compilations, newsletters, blogs, magazine publications, newspaper articles, and professional related correspondence. I've been involved with underground communities and subcultures since 1994 and have operated in virtually every sector from INFO / IC / CONS / HPC / CRYPTO / SEC. Additionally, I've been an active researcher and participant in the vampire (Vampyre) community since 1997 and am both a founding member and the site administrator of the Atlanta Vampire Alliance [AVA], the primary contributing author to the Vampirism & Energy Work Research Study, a lead researcher for Suscitatio Enterprises, LLC, the current administrator for Voices of the Vampire Community (VVC), founder of Vampire Community News (VCN) on Twitter, Facebook, and WordPress, and the organizer for the Atlanta Vampire Meetup Group.
On February 27, 1999 I began work on a document known as The Underground Revolution (TUR) in which I chronicled a detailed history of the subcultural computer underground from conception through the year 2000. The vetting of the information obtained, including but not limited to specific events, groups, and persons, necessitated a redacted version of this document. The focus is extensively on the hacking, phreaking, pirating, or otherwise social engineering activities of the community, therefore, special consideration was given to the sensitive nature of the information both gleaned and entrusted to my associates and I during compilation. A 'Database Only' directory of this document can be found in the TUR section of this web site as first published in August 1999. If there is any information in this text that requires correction or amending please use the submission form provided. As of 2001 my involvement with certain aspects of the H/P/C + SEC community has diminished by my choosing. Long-term projects and obligatory contracts are delegated to other interested parties who continue in my stead.
I'm also known to others both professionally and personally in other communities including but not limited to antiquities, interior design, medieval art and manuscripts, media consultation, comparative religion, medical technologies, and privacy advocation. Since 2000 my professional career has involved rare and unique antique acquisitions, custom furniture and accessory production, interior design consultation, prop rental, and architectural salvage. I've worked with clients on projects ranging from complete home remodeling, restaurant design, storefront planning and visual merchandising, showroom displays, movie prop sales and rentals, magazine photo shoots, and historic home restoration.
I'm an individual who deeply values my privacy and in turn expects of and reciprocates such respect to others. I maintain a stance of neutrality within most of the communities I interact with and in situations that require arbitration between individuals or groups.
